How to Apply for Citizenship in Malta?

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, of good character, have no criminal record, and be in good health. An applicant may include their spouse, dependent children, and in some cases, elderly parents or grandparents.

Application Process:

  1. Pre-approval by GCI – Global Citizenship Investment
  2. Submission of the application to the Government of Malta
  3. Government processing and due diligence (4-6 months)
  4. Approval in principle
  5. Investment in real estate, contribution to the National Development and Social Fund, and investments in stocks or bonds
  6. Citizenship certificate issued
  7. Passport application and issuance

Residence Program Malta

Malta is an attractive location for residence. The Malta Residence and Visa Program (MRVP) offers non-Maltese individuals an EU residence card, allowing visa-free travel within the Schengen Area.

  1. Exceptional Direct Investment (non-refundable):
    • EUR 600,000 (36 months residency option)
    • EUR 750,000 (12 months residency option)
    • EUR 50,000 for each additional dependent
  2. Philanthropic Donation:
    • EUR 10,000 to a registered NGO
  3. Real Estate:
    • Purchase property valued at a minimum of EUR 700,000
    • Rent property at a minimum of EUR 16,000 per year (for 5 years)
  4. Additional Fees:
    • Residence permit fee: EUR 5,000 (EUR 1,000 for each dependent)
    • Due diligence: EUR 15,000 (EUR 10,000 for dependents)
    • Administrative fees: EUR 1,500 per applicant
