Germany Economic Residency Application Process

Germany
, the economic powerhouse of Europe, is renowned for its reliable production of modern products and is a hub for financial investment, with many of the world’s most successful corporations having a significant presence there.

Alongside its growing economy, Germany boasts a globally recognized education system, hosting some of the most distinguished universities and colleges in Europe. German residents enjoy a high standard of living, a modern and affordable healthcare system, and exceptional travel infrastructure.

Germany’s reputation as a business and immigration specialist has helped create diverse, modern communities across the country. All religions and ethnicities are respected and represented, making it an inviting and thriving environment for overseas investors.

Applicants are required to acquire real estate and make an investment into a local development fund. By doing so, the eligible applicant, their spouse, and children under 18 will be granted lifetime resident status after three years, allowing the entire family to live, study, and work in Germany, as well as travel across all Schengen Area countries.

Process:

  • Week 1: Business plan and German residency applications submitted simultaneously. Refundable payment in advance is made.
  • Week 2: Residency pre-authorization checks are completed. Escrow account opened, and investment amount, fees, expenses, and taxes are transferred.
  • Week 5: Applicants apply for a 90-day National D-Visa at their local German embassy or consulate.
  • Week 10-12: D-Visa issued. Applicants purchase German health insurance, verify address, and travel to Germany to complete the application and receive residence status.

Application Procedure:

Each step must be completed before proceeding to the next:

Stage 1: Month 1-2 – Pre-Approval

  • Step 1: The main applicant and family members apply for the program by making a refundable deposit. Legal counsel initiates the residency process.
  • Step 2: Pre-approval is granted by the local German authorities and sent to the corresponding German embassy in the applicant’s country of origin. Legal counsel opens an escrow account under the applicant’s name. The applicant transfers the remaining balance to the escrow account within 14 days of receiving pre-approval.

Stage 2: Month 3 – Temporary Residence

  • Step 3: The applicant and family members apply for the D-Visa at their local German embassy – valid for 90 days. They travel to Germany within 90 days and complete the residency application process with the local authorities.

Stage 3: Year 3 – Lifetime Residence

  • Step 4: The main applicant and qualifying family members will be eligible for lifetime residence after successfully completing three years of temporary residence.

Why is Germany Special?

The German Business Residency Program is among the premier options for foreign entrepreneurs seeking European residency. The GCI Unit is designed to grant successful international entrepreneurs temporary and then permanent residency by participating in business activities within the city of Solingen. GCI UNIT offers a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to become European residents and enjoy access to free education and world-class healthcare infrastructure.

Benefits:

  • 3-year Temporary Residence Card, convertible to permanent residency in year 4.
  • Spouse and children under 18 can be included in the application.
  • No minimum stay requirements, but must not leave the country for more than six months.
  • No language requirements.
  • Multiple residences in Germany are allowed (but one in Solingen is mandatory).
  • Freedom of travel across all Schengen member countries.
  • Free education.
  • Free healthcare.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Entrepreneurial activity in Germany.
  • German health insurance.
  • Residential address in Germany.
  • No criminal record.

There is no ‘Investor category’ in Germany. Instead, international nationals engaging in entrepreneurial activity and seeking residency must follow the migration regulations related to self-employment, provided all the following conditions apply (section 21, Residence Act):

  • There is a local economic interest.
  • The activity is expected to have a positive impact on the economy.
  • The foreign national is prepared to commit personal capital to realize the business project.

After eight years of residence in Germany, residents may apply for citizenship if they meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years old.
  • No criminal record.
  • German language proficiency at B1 level.
  • Relinquishment of other citizenship.
  • Pass the citizenship test (knowledge of German history, law, and culture).

Why Second Citizenship Germany?

If you have dual citizenship, you are a citizen of two countries simultaneously. This provides certain benefits, such as access to two social service systems, the ability to live, work, and own property in two countries, and ease of travel between them.

Second Passport:

As a dual citizen, you can hold passports from both countries, eliminating the need for long-stay visas and ensuring the right of entry to both countries.

Property Ownership:

Dual citizenship allows you to own property in both countries, which can be particularly beneficial if you frequently travel between them.

Is Germany Second Passport Legal?

Citizenship is a complex topic, and many people mistakenly believe that a second passport is illegal. This is a myth. Dual citizenship is entirely legal, and you can obtain a second passport through officially recognized citizenship by investment programs or citizenship by residency.
