Residence Program Malaysia MM2H

The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Programme is a government initiative that allows foreigners who meet specific criteria to stay in Malaysia for an extended period under a multiple-entry social visit pass. This pass is initially valid for ten (10) years and is renewable.

Eligibility

The program is open to citizens of all countries recognized by Malaysia, regardless of race, age, religion, or gender. Applicants can bring their spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21 as dependents.

Financial Requirements

Applicants must be financially capable of supporting themselves while in Malaysia.

For applicants under 50 years:

  • Show proof of liquid assets worth at least RM500,000.
  • Demonstrate an offshore income of RM10,000 per month.
  • Provide the latest 3 months’ bank statements with a minimum credit balance of RM500,000 per month.

For applicants aged 50 and above:

  • Show proof of liquid assets worth at least RM350,000.
  • Demonstrate an offshore income of RM10,000 per month.
  • Provide the latest 3 months’ bank statements with a minimum credit balance of RM350,000 per month.
  • Government pensioners can provide proof of receiving a pension of at least RM10,000 per month.

Steps to Apply

Step 1: Pre-Submission
Apply online via the Examine N Track System.

Step 2: Submit Application
Apply through our attorney and partner from GCI Unit Malaysia.

Step 3: Conditional Approval Letter Issued
The Immigration Unit, MM2H Centre, will issue a conditional approval letter.

Step 4: Arrival in Malaysia

  • Open a required Fixed Deposit account in any bank in Malaysia for a 1-year period with auto-renewal.
  • Purchase medical insurance in any insurance company in Malaysia.
  • Obtain a medical report from any private hospital or registered clinic in Malaysia.
  • Fulfill the security bond requirement (Direct Applicants only).

Step 5: Submit Remaining Documents

  • Fixed Deposit certificate.
  • Medical Insurance.
  • Medical report.
  • Stamped Security Bond (Direct Applicant only).

Step 6: Collect Visa
The applicant can now collect the Malaysia My Second Home Visa.
The fee for the Social Visit Pass is RM 90/year. The pass is issued according to the passport’s validity (maximum ten years).


Important Notes

  • Effective from 9th January 2009, foreign citizens may apply directly to the MM2H program or use services of MM2H agents licensed by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia.
  • After one year, participants aged 50 years and above must maintain a minimum balance of RM100,000 annually under this program, while those below 50 must maintain RM150,000.
  • All documents must be certified as true copies of the original by a recognized authority.
  • All foreign documents not in English must be translated by a certified translator.
  • Dependent(s) refer to spouses and unmarried children under 21 years old.
  • The Security Bond must be stamped and is refundable upon leaving the MM2H Program.
